Who it suits
Families with small children, guests who do not want a camel, and groups who want to see a wider stretch of sand before dinner. A standard jeep seats about four to six, depending on the vehicle.
Timing
Leave Jaisalmer in the late afternoon. The safari runs before dark, then you either return to the city or check into the camp for dinner. In winter, start a little earlier because the sun drops fast.
Combine it with a tent
The booking that works best is jeep plus overnight camp. You reach the dunes once, instead of paying for a separate city-to-dune cab later.

Is the jeep safari at the same place as the camel ride?
Yes. Both run on the Sam dunes. You can book one or both.
